Anywho, this week was a little crazy due to transfers, My companion and I went back and forth, all around the east end of the island picking up, and dropping off sisters to their new areas. It was fun, but by the end of the day my companion and I were exhausted! However, we still found time to find and teach people :) We are seeing such great miracles here. We are teaching this woman who is trying to stop smoking. We had a lesson on the love of Christ, and how we can overcome our weaknesses. We then, ended the lesson, left her house, ran to the grocery store down the street and returned with a big huge pack of hard candies and mints so that when she wants to smoke she takes a mint and reads a scripture :)
Last Monday, we received a random phone call from a guy from Montana. Well, he calls us and is like, "Hi! I am a member in Montana, and I have a guy I want you to see. He is interested in the church, and well, we are looking for the church right now, can you give us directions?" Yeah, like that never happens. We gave them directions to the church building, and then we went and visited him later on in the week. Well, this super awesome member wasn't home, but, his friend was, and she was super interested in the Plan of salvation because someone had passed away in their family. She told us that she had listened to many missionaries before, but she doesn't want to pick a church to congregate even though she knows she needs to. However, she loved our lesson, and during the lesson, we could see her thought process change to help her think about the plan God has for us. I know God has a plan for us. He wants us to return to him, so he gives us chance after chance after chance. We have a loving, and merciful Heavenly Father, and Savior.
We are also teaching a little girl, who is preparing for baptism! She is 11 years old, she told her mom that she wanted to go to church and be baptized, well, that's where we came in! It has been so wonderful to see this girl reading the book of Mormon, and gaining a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, because it seriously changes lives! Her mom has seen such a difference in her daughter's life because she is more patient, and the home is a more peaceful place as this little girl's mom is coming back to church as well!
I love what I do. I love sharing this message. It is the best message in the world!
Love you all! Stay safe!
Hermana VanKammen
Here's a scripture that I love this week: From the Book of Mormon, another testament of Jesus Christ: Ether 12:27: And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness . I give unto men weakness that they maybe humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.
