So, our mission president's wife makes the best desserts EVER, and, well, for p-day this morning we decided to do a little "service" and help her make the wonderful sweets for a conference we are going to have with 3 zones in our mission. We made a TON! (and maybe ate a little too.....)
A lot of wonderful things happened this week. The elders in our ward had a baptism, and the woman was so happy with her decision! She felt so proud of herself as she said the closing prayer in one of the classes :) The ward loved it!
But, that wasn't the best part of the week. We had an investigator FINALLY come to church! We have been working with this wonderful lady for a while, but she cares for her 90 something year old mom who has Alzheimer and kept waking up sick on Sundays. Well, this week, she gave her mom a pill, and put her in the car so she could go to church, and they LOVED it :) But, that wasn't it, there is this less active who we randomly found one day just waiting by the side of the road, and she has not been to church in quite a while (more than 7 years). But, yesterday, she finally came! The ward welcomed her with open arms, and she was able to recieve guidance that she needed in her life. I was so thankful to see these wonderful people blessed by the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Today, I studied about the atonement. In a scripture in Alma 36, we learn that no matter how grievous our pains are, we can receive the wonderful joy of the gospel. I mean, even though I wasn't in pain, or suffering from sins yesterday, I truly felt the overwhelming joy the gospel can give us. And that is all because of our Savior Jesus Christ. As we go through life, we may not know why things happen (or don't happen), but we can always know that as we follow God's commandments, everything comes in God's time, and there is always a light in the end.
I don't know if this letter makes sense (sorry if it doesn't) but, the bottom line is: The church is True!
I love you all! Sigue Adelante!
Con MUCHO amor,
Hermana VanKammen
