Can you believe it!? Christmas is this week! Christmas is such a special time because we get to rejoice in the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. My companion and I spent this past week in what's called a "revolu" in Spanish...that means, like, a hectic time....or something a long those lines. I drove back and forth to drop my companion off so she could work, and pick up another companion to sing. We drove all over the island one more time to spread this Christmas cheer. I think I calculated, that we spent 9 hours driving, I have pictures for y'all. My companion, Hermana Palacios worked in a different area while another missionary, Hermana Dawid went with me to go sing. I cannot express my gratitude to be able to share my testimony through music. We sang a variation of songs, and then there was also a bell choir of adolescents, and kids who played as well. We even got to sing/play in a catholic church/museum!
One of the songs was a solo done by an Elder. He sang "Mary Did You Know". If you know this song, it talks about all the things that Christ would do in his time on Earth, and if only Mary knew that her son would accomplish all of that. When she held in her hands the Savior of the world, did she know how great he would be? Did she know how much we ALL needed him? So, mothers, you may not bear the Savior of the World, but, you are raising children in a generation of such great distress. It is harder every day for your children to make the right decisions, and to be strong. So, what are you doing to prepare yourselves to teach your children? Teenagers/adolescence/recently married couples, what are you doing now to raise a future generation? We don't know who our kids will be in the future, but we can prepare ourselves now to help them on this journey. I feel that in serving this mission for my Savior, I am learning how to be a better sister, daughter, wife, and mother. As it says in Alma 34:32 in the Book of Mormon, "For behold, this life is the time to prepare to meet God" So, this is the time to prepare ourselves, and our families to meet God together as an Eternal Family.
I know that families are eternal. I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is on the Earth. That we have a prophet to lead and guide us. Jesus Christ lives! He is our Savior, Redeemer. May we all remember that this Christmas season. He is the Gift christmas.mormon.org
Stay safe, and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Love,
Hermana VanKammen
