HOLA HOLA HOLA!!!!!
First things first: To all you wonderful mothers, and grandmothers out there pretend you open this email on Sunday morning: Feliz Dia de Madres! "HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!" Thanks for all you do!
Second. I love being a missionary. It alows you to say hi to everyone on the street and be totally completely crazy, and embarass yourself, and it's all totally acceptable. Like those moments when you are a year into your mission and you still can't learn to walk OVER the speed bumps, or the moment you contact the same person twice in the street, and you didn't know you already talk to them, and they say, "oh yeah! You talked to me last week! I have that pamphlet you gave me". Or that time that a random guy throws a note out of his car meant especially for you (because you have "beautiful blue eyes and blond hair") Or, that time that you're in the second lesson, and your golden "investigator" is actually less active....(totally happened...I can just imagine my face, haha), or even that moment someone starts talking to me in English and I just can't figure out how to talk to them....These things are totally "normal", every day things....or maybe just normal everyday things in the life of Sister VanKammen, haha. But, they make life fun. I am lucky to have a companion who can embrace all of my awkward moments, and we laugh :)
But, besides all the funny moments, there are also spiritual moments as well. Like that time all of our lessons cancel, and the only person left we can think of is a less active who we can never find in their house, but this time we visit them, and they are HOME! And we have a super spiritual lesson, and they come back to church that next Sunday. Or that time when an investigator "just feels good" and they understand the message, and accepts the invitation to come to church and read the Book of Mormon. Or that time when a less active comes to church, and after they hug all the members that sworm them and say how much they have missed the less active, they hug you with tears and say, "thank you". These are the moments I love to embrace. These are the moments that get you, despite all the hard and awkward moments. These moments are the reasons I am here on the mission. and I LOVE IT! I hope you all have a wonderful week! Thanks for your prayers, love, and support. It truly helps :D
Feliz Semana! Exito!
Love,
Hermana VanKammen
