Hola a Todos!
This week, was like a custard doughnut. The doughnut being the mission, and the custard being the blessings. The mission is wonderful, you have fun, you laugh, you go bowling like we did today :) But, then, the good part doesn't come, until you see those little blessings and miracles. For example. Monday, all of our appointments cancelled and we didn't have anything to do, so it fell to our backup plan: contacting. We decided to try to go and find a contact we had in an area we didn't know. Beforehand we shuffled to a little corner and said a prayer. In the pray I asked Heavenly Father to help us find a family who could accept the gospel that night. After we walked we found the house of the contact, but he wasn't home, so we went to their next door neighbor where we heard noise coming from the cute little red house. We talked to the man who answered, and he ended up inviting us in, and by the end of our time, his wife had joined in, and we had shared the story of the restoration. They were interested, and wanted to read the book of mormon, and accepted a return appointment. We had found a family to teach :) The Lord answers prayers! Then, later on in the week, we had a little more contacting time, so we decided to look for a less active I had been searching for since I got to this area (3 months!) Well, tonight, SHE WAS HOME! And we were able to help her with some difficult things going on in her life. We left knowing that the spirit was brought in her home again.
This week I was also reading in the scriptures and I came accross this verse that just hit me very strong: Isaiah 53:4-5. The atonement is real! "Surely he hath borne our griefs , and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."
He has truly born our griefs, and through him, we can be healed. Like they talked about in conference. We are all sick, we go to chruch to be healed!
It's just the little miracles we find that amaze me every day. I am able to see the light that the gospel brings into people's lives as they find more about their purpose. We had some really fun moments this week too, like, TODAY! A member took us bowling! So, don't worry, we have fun :)
I just want to tell you that I love you all! Have a wonderful week!
Love,
Hermana VanKammen
