Hola Todos!
This week was such an amazing week to rejoice in the resurrection of our savior Jeus Christ. And so many things happened, a leadership conference, general conference, transfers, finding new people, and I am going to have a new companion! We shared the video Because He Lives a TON! And we found a bunch of new people who want to hear more about our message!
So, this week our mission president extended a new invitation for all the missionaries here in Puerto Rico to start reading the Book of Mormon today! We are all reading it every day and we will finish August 2nd! I invite any of you who would like to read the Book of Mormon, to feel it's power, to see what it's a bout, and gain a testimony of this book to read with us :) On August second we will all fast for 24 hours not only for our own testimonies, but to open the hearts of all in Puerto Rico :) There is strength in numbers!
So, also, conference happened! I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE general conference. It is truly like Christmas for missionaries! And maybe many other people around the world. We get so many spiritual insights and gifts that our hearts just explode at the end of the day! ( I mean, maybe that's just me....) Anyway for the conference I noticed 2 main themes: 1. the Family: How great of an importance it is to have families in this earth. I hope all of you can take a minute to think, "What does my family mean to me?" Also, 2. Jesus Christ: One of the talks I really loved was that of Mary M. Wixon who talked about how our testimonies should be like the primary songs. Maybe we will not understand everything. But it is the basic testimony that will stand when times get rough. "Like Primary children, every one of us can strengthen our faith in Jesus Christ on our individual journey and find joy" Mary M. Wixon.
Also, TRANSFERS came! My companion is ending her mission, so I am obviously getting a new comanion! I am happy to say that I will now be with a MEXICAN! Her name is Hermana Madrigal :) She's awesome! She came with me from the CCM so, it will be cool to be able to communicate with her now :) That means that for at least these six weeks I will be living with 2 dominicans and 1 mexican! Yay for being the only american! haha. That just means I will be eating a lot of rice, beans, and tortillas. Yesterday, I had "Habichuelas con dulce" aka like sweet beans. They are blended beans with suger and cinomon and other sweet flavors....Its like super wierd to think that beans can be turned into a dessert, but it was actually super good! I guess I can compare it to liquidy pumpin pie....
Well, love you all! And if you didn't have a chance to look at the general Conferece here's the link: lds.org GO THERE NOW! :)
Love,
Hermana VanKammen
