Hola TODOS!!
So, here I go. Literally. I have been transferred! I have been transferred out of the beautiful wonderful paradise area of Cabo Rojo, and I am now in a place called Toa Baja. It is equally beautiful here. While I don't get to see the ocean, I am in the mountains with rolling hills and green trees that just surround everything. With this change, I now have a new companion. Her name is Hermana Chen, and she is from Guatamala. She doesn't speak english so its all spanish for me. That was really scary at first, but I am finding I know a lot more spanish than I thought, and I can understand pretty much everything she says. She is WONDERFUL, and a hardworking missionary, and we have great plans for this new area of Toa Baja.
I will admit, I was SO incredibly sad to leave Cabo Rojo. The work there was progressing so much, and I have developed an unconditional love for the people and the area. HOWEVER, I know that this is where the Lord needs me. I know that this area is going to help me to grow so I can be a better instrument in the Lord's hands.
In my final days in Cabo Rojo, I was able to see how the Lord's hand works in our lives a lot more. I felt the spirit really guiding me and my companion to the people that needed to hear our message. In one instance, we planned to go to a new contact's house. As we were walking, we passed by a house of a woman who is not a member, but her kids are. She was sitting all alone on her front porch, so we decided to talk to her. We found out that she was going through a really rough time and had many challenges ahead of her. With the inpiration of the Lord, we were able to console her and help her to be strengthened to know that her Heavenly Father loves her. Despite trials that we have, I can testify that the Lord knows each and every one of us. Our trials are given to us so we can learn and we can grow so we can be better people when we live with our Heavenly Father again. I testify that the Lord's hand is always in our lives. Our Heavenly father is always there to help us, if we just ask through prayer. I promise you that if you ask, he will answer you. Sometimes it is not always right away, but he will answer.
Thank you all for your letters and packages. I love you all, and hope you have a great week!
Love,
Hermana VanKammen
