I am learning ANOTHER language out here! It's called Kekchi. Its a dialect that they speak in Guatamala. How cool is that!?
So, yeah, basically, I love Toa Baja. I have such high hopes for this area. My companion and I have seen so many miracles just in the past couple days we have had together. We had 4 investigators at church, and a guy came to church who hasn't been in a really long time! He's super awesome. A lot of people like to speak English with me. I feel bad for my companion because she doesn't know what they are saying, but I am teaching her English :)
Also, I lived through my first hurricane! Okay, well, it wasn't much of a hurricane. I think a little bit of it just passed over, so there was rain and wind for like a whole afternoon. But, anyway, something really funny happened, and it was a total movie moment. But, my companion and I were walking our merrily way around and a car passed by. Well, there was a HUGE puddle in the road, and I just happened to be in the right spot. So, the car splashed me right there. I got soaked!
The day of the hurricane was one of the most beautiful days on my mission. You see this day, all of our appointments fell through, so, here we were attempting to contact people in the wind and the rain. We weren't finding very much success so we said a prayer. It was the end of the night and our feet hurt, and we had been walking all day, so we asked Heavenly Father if we could just have one more lesson. Well, we ended up going to a family, in our ward who has a son getting ready for a mission. He is super awesome, and we were able to help strengthen him and his family as they prepare. It was such a great lesson! I was so grateful for that ability to teach and strengthen a member of our church.
Sometimes we have to walk through the storm to get the blue sky. But the blue sky is always there waiting. I am so grateful for this mission. It has helped me to gain a stronger testimony of our Savior's love. I can truly testify that he is there. This life is not easy. "SALVATION IS NOT CHEEP!" (Elder Jeffery R. Holland) But, it is truly worth it!
I love you all! na kat waj!
