Hola! Everyone!
This week has been one of those weeks where you just grow! First of all, I gave my first talk in church. All in Spanish! So, I mean, that was a success because everyone understood me! .... or, at least that is what they tell me.
Also, don't you guys worry, I am using my musical talents out here. We had a zone conference with President and my companion and I sang "Be Still My Soul". We sang it in Spanish because my companion had a translated version (it's only in the English hymnbook). Also, before every lesson we sing a hymn and I love it. Music brings the spirit into lessons so strongly.
I also want to talk about the miracles that we have seen this week. My dear brothers and sisters, member missionary work is SO incredibly important. We need members to help us, to lead us, and teach with us. Members have a connection with friends that will help us teach the gospel that we cannot get on our own. Let me give a few examples from this week that have helped strengthen this testimony of mine.
So, we have been struggling with member present lessons. However, this Sunday we made a sign-up sheet to help get members out with us. We set up and marked specific appointments with investigators and marked them on this sheet. Then, we got members to go out with us during these times. We had a lesson with this woman and her two kids and the member was able to connect with her so she will have a friend at church. We had another visit with a man who is less active and for this appointment his grandson just happened to stop by. He is a return missionary and so his grandson was able to testify and give the support he needed to make the steps to come back to church. You see, members are SO important!
President Zwick gave a fireside to our Stake about this. He took all the Bishops and Ward mission Leaders and had them all explain things they are doing to help the work. So, who can you help today? Who can you invite today? What will you do today to hasten the work?
To all those who are not members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I encourage all of you to take a moment to look at Lds.org and Mormon.org. I have a firm testimony that the gospel of Jesus Christ will bless your life. You are all near and dear to my heart.
Stay strong! La iglasia es verdadera! (the church is true!)
Love,
Hermana VanKammen
